Summer Research
Trinity's chemistry department offers a summer research program that provides undergraduates at all levels and highly motivated high school students an opportunity to participate in chemical research. Research is conducted in one of the major disciplines of chemistry: analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry. Each student will work under the close supervision of a chemistry faculty member, and will be involved in a variety of activities that introduce them to the challenges, excitement, and opportunities of careers in the chemical sciences. The program will provide hands-on use of modern chemical instrumentation, opportunities for contributions to publishable research, experience in effective oral and written communication of results, and knowledge of career opportunities through interactions with leaders in chemical and biochemical science.
The summer program is available to any undergraduate student or high school students. Preference is given to qualified Trinity students, but we gladly accept applications from high school students and students from other colleges. Participation in the program includes a stipend, a 1-hour course credit, and the opportunity to live in the Trinity University dorms.

HHMI
Additionally, Trinity received a four-year, $1.5 million grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to build interdisciplinary linkages among the sciences. The award is providing students with outstanding research opportunities and is allowing the University to develop a compelling set of science courses for non-science majors and bring the excitement of science to local middle school students through an innovative Science Academy and curriculum development workshops for 1st - 12th grade teachers.
