Trinity University Staff Member Recognized for Dedication and Professionalism
Susie P. Gonzalez honored by local chapter of the Association for Women in Communications
Susie P. Gonzalez, assistant director of University Communications, received the 2012 Maggie Cousins Headliner Award at the Association for Women in Communications San Antonio (AWCSA) Chapter’s 32nd Annual Awards Banquet last month. An honor reserved for an AWCSA member, the award recognizes Gonzalez’s professional career and leadership in the chapter. The award is named after Maggie Cousins, a San Antonio native and journalism pioneer.
Gonzalez has handled media relations at Trinity since 2000. Prior to her appointment at Trinity, she worked as a reporter at the San Antonio Express-News for 18 years. She uses her journalistic skills to promote the people and programs at Trinity with media throughout the nation. Gonzalez has served on the AWCSA board in various positions and is currently serving a second term as treasurer.
Previous recipients of AWCSA Headliner Awards (from the ranks of faculty and staff at Trinity) include Mary Anthony, Mary Denny, Bonnie Flake, Sammye Johnson, Ann Knoebel, Sharon Jones Schweitzer, and Karen Waldron.
