Trinity University Elects Two New Trustees
One is a parent; the other brings a tradition of family involvement
SAN ANTONIO - Trinity University parent Ted Beneski, a business executive from Colleyville, Texas, and San Antonio oilman Walter F. Brown Jr. have been elected to the Trinity University Board of Trustees.
Beneski is CEO and managing partner of Dallas-based Insight Equity Holdings LLC, which manages two buyout equity funds and a mezzanine debt fund. Prior to founding Insight Equity, Beneski was a founding principal and senior vice president of the Carlyle Management Group (CMG), a private equity group, which yielded annual investment returns of more than 60 percent during his tenure there.
He also previously was the co-founder and managing director of Bain & Company's Dallas office, where he advised Fortune 100 clients across a wide range of industries in the areas of portfolio and business unit strategy, mergers and acquisitions, operational improvement, organizational and process redesign, new product introduction, and growth strategy.
A graduate of Amherst College, where he majored in economics, Beneski received an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is the father of David, a junior at Trinity, and Jeff, who graduated from Trinity in 2011.
Brown is vice president of San Antonio-based Delray Oil, Inc., and vice president of the Canadian company W.F. Brown Exploration, Ltd. Brown follows a family tradition of involvement with Trinity, where his father, Walter F. Brown, served on the Board of Trustees from 1980 until attaining emeritus status in 2006. Trinity's popular Distinguished Lecture Series and Distinguished Scientist Lecture Series are made possible through the generosity of Brown Sr. and his wife, Lenora.
Acknowledging the enjoyment Board membership brought to his father, Brown considers Trinity "a part of our family" and says he looks forward to being of service to the University.
