Recreation Trip - 2013
Do you have a sense of adventure?
The First-Year Outdoor Recreation Trip (FORT) is quickly becoming a Trinity tradition. Led by two student leaders from Trinity’s Outdoor Recreation program, eight adventurous first-years will have the exciting opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Texas firsthand on a four day backpacking trip in the Gudalupe Mountains. This will be a great opportunity to meet other freshman, experience the outdoors, learn and develop valuable leadership characteristics, and have a lot of fun. No prior experience is necessary.
WHEN: August 16th - 21st
WHERE: Big Bend National Park (Recent years' destinations have also included the Guadalupe Mountains, canoeing on the Rio Grande, and the Ozarks!)
WHAT:

A four-day, five-night backpacking or canoeing trip in one of Texas' many scenic natural areas.

Arrive on campus Friday August 15th and move in for the semester.

Shortly thereafter participants will meet the student trip leaders at the Bell Center. Our Trip leaders are Wilderness First Aid Certified.

Pre-trip meeting and introductions.

Four days of backpacking, learning backcountry travel techniques, developing leadership skills, and lots of fun.
COST: $165 (prices have ranged from $150-$200)

Respond to one of the following two questions in less than 150 words:

The trip is limited to 8 students so apply now! Participants will be selected based on the timeliness of their application along with their essay. Participants will be notified of their place on the trip by July 10 and will receive a more detailed information packet. Once accepted you will have one week to turn in the fee. If it is not received in that one week we will move to the waiting list.
