The inauguration of Dennis A. Ahlburg as Trinity University's 18th president will be celebrated with a series of events leading up to an investiture ceremony at 2 p.m., Friday Oct. 22, in Laurie Auditorium. A reception will take place immediately following the installation ceremony on the lawn surrounding "Conversation with Magic Stones."
Inauguration Week also includes the following events for members of the Trinity community.
Wednesday, October 20
Staff Breakfast Reception in celebration of Dr. Ahlburg's inauguration
Great Hall
8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
All Trinity staff are invited to this event, which also features opportunities for community outreach as a way for staff to honor President Ahlburg and his wife, Penelope Harley, as well as enhance Trinity's strong ties to the San Antonio community. More information about staff community service opportunities will follow.
Faculty Celebration of Dr. Ahlburg's inauguration
Holt Center
7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Faculty and their spouses/partners are invited to a Texas-style 'Down Under' affair in celebration of the president's inauguration. The event will feature music by the Medina Mud Band.
Thursday, October 21
All-Campus Picnic
Coates Esplanade
5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Esplanade will come alive with the sounds of Trinity music, featuring the Trinity Jazz Band, the voices of the Acabellas and the Trinitones, and other student performers as the campus celebrates the inauguration and honors President Ahlburg and Ms. Harley. All members of the Trinity community, especially Trinity students and area alumni, are invited to this student organized Trinity-style party. Mabee Hall will be closed that evening, so come by and enjoy a free Tex-Mex buffet.
Friday, October 22
Inauguration Delegates and Special Guests Luncheon
Great Hall
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This luncheon will formally welcome invited delegates and special guests of President Ahlburg and Ms. Harley. The delegates, representing some of the most prestigious colleges and universities across the country and around the world, will participate in the procession and academic pageantry of the investiture ceremony.

2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The installation ceremony begins with a colorful procession of faculty, trustees, administrators, and delegates in full academic regalia. The program will include greetings from faculty, staff, students, and alumni, as well as from the City of San Antonio by Mayor Julian Castro. The keynote address will be delivered by Roger Ainsworth, professor of engineering science at the University of Oxford, England, and Master of St. Catherine's College.
Presidential Inauguration Reception
3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
After the installation ceremony, the Trinity community will gather on the lawn surrounding "Conversation with Magic Stones" for a reception featuring the music of Los Tres Reyes.
