The University strives to create an atmosphere in which basic civility and decency are expected, and mutual respect and open communication are fostered:
- Members of the University community are responsible for their actions and how those actions impinge on those around them.
- Wisdom, good judgment, and concern for others are to be held in higher regard than narrow self-interest.
- The basic rights and dignity of each individual are to be upheld in the climate of a just and humane environment.
- Behavior that is psychologically or physically destructive either to the self or to others is unacceptable in the University setting.
Trinity University offers a safe environment for students to learn - by experience - about their decisions, actions, and their consequences. Trinity University’s policies are intentionally simple: Students are expected to follow the law, take responsibility for their actions, and show respect for self, others, the University and broader community, and property. As members of the University community, students willfully consent to following policies and procedures as outlined in the Student Handbook while retaining certain rights.
Situations that may warrant disciplinary action are referred to the Student Conduct Board, with the exception of cases referred to the University Conduct Board, as outlined in the Student Handbook. The Conduct Review Board considers written appeals of decisions made by the Student and University Conduct Boards.
The Greek Council handles incidents of potential violations of the policies of Greek organizations as determined by the Greek Council. Decisions of the Greek Council may be appealed to the Director of Campus & Community Involvement. The Honor Council operates under the authority of Academic Affairs.
