TITLE: AC/HEATING TECHNICIAN (Two Positions)

DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES SERVICES

SALARY: $14.1260 PER HOUR

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or its equivalent; Type III certification for refrigerant recovery/recycling as established by the EPA; four years experience in a HVAC mechanical/electrical field and two years experience in central plant operations; valid Texas Driver's License; working knowledge of the common tools required in the air conditioning and heating trade; good physical stamina; ability to lift up to 75lbs; ability to climb and work from a 6ft ladder on a consistent basis, and periodically from a 40ft ladder and scaffold that can reach heights up to 60ft; working conditions may include exposure to mechanical, electrical, or chemical hazards, confined spaces, and/or outdoor work in inclement weather; ability to handle multiple priorities; applicant must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical examination; employment is contingent upon a successful background investigation.

PREFERRED: Completion of a two year vocational training program or apprenticeship training program in related HVAC field; universal certification for refrigerant recovery/recycling established by the EPA; more than four years experience in commercial HVAC mechanical/electrical field; two years experience in central plant operations.

DUTIES: Responsible for performing HVAC mechanical/electrical duties for Trinity University at the journeyman level of proficiency on commercial DX systems, central plant equipment, and secondary HVAC air and water systems; maintains and repairs residential and commercial refrigerant air conditioning systems; maintains and repairs central plant equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, boilers and centrifugal chillers; repairs and calibrates electrical and pneumatic control systems; performs preventive maintenance duties including but not limited to: oil and grease HVAC equipment, change air filters, replace worn fan belts; clean heating and cooling coils, inspect mechanical rooms, add chemicals to central plant systems and log operating status of central plant equipment; performs other HVAC duties including but not limited to: braze tubing, replace gaskets, replace valves and fan motors, and recharge refrigerant systems; provides emergency on-call service on a rotating schedule; cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality; complies with all of Trinity University policies and guidelines; performs other duties as assigned.
