History | Internships
The history department encourages its students to gain work experience related to their studies through internships at museums, historical landmarks, and government offices. Recent places where history students have interned include:
US Army Medical Department Center and School (AMEDDC&S) History Office:
Located at Fort Sam Houston, the AMEDDC&S History Office supports the US Army Medical Department Center and School through the assembly and publication of papers, official reports, annual histories, archival holdings and the development of museum exhibits and promotional materials. Interns will be assisting with relocating, collating, organizing and digitizing historical holdings and with the preparation of publications, brochures, and exhibits for the general public.
Students with military, medical, or museum studies background may find this a particularly rewarding experience. The Army has a strong sense of history and employs a sizeable number of professional historians in various capacities.
