The environmental studies program at Trinity provides an interdisciplinary study of Earth's environment and how human beings interact with it. Going beyond the natural sciences, environmental studies students examine environmental issues from perspectives of social policy, art and the humanities.

Trinity's environmental studies program spans multiple academic disciplines. Students have the opportunity to pursue their individual interests with electives in areas ranging from studio art and environmental ethics to political policy and the fundamentals of environmental engineering. Our faculty advisory committee includes members of seven academic departments.

Strengthening the value of their classroom instruction, students also pursue a variety of field trips, research opportunities and hands-on internships. Participants in the environmental studies program have taken internships in state and city governments, at local volunteer organizations, and both public and private institutions. Students conduct research work alongside faculty members and present their findings at regional and national conferences.

The Environmental Studies major complements a variety of disciplinary majors at Trinity, providing a foundation for a future career in environmental issues. Students interested in the natural sciences may pursue biology or geology, while those interested in environmental policy might consider a major in economics or sociology. Trinity'sEnvironmental Studies major draws on the breadth and the depth of Trinity's faculty. Students are able to major in Environmental Studies and also develop a strong understanding, perhaps a second major, in an area of expertise such as biology, political science or environmental literature.
