E-Mail and Account Creation

An electronic mail account is created at the same time as computer user identifications (username).

For incoming students, e-mail accounts are created prior to residence hall check-in. During check-in, e-mail accounts and computer username and passwords, can be picked up from Residential Life, along with your room key and Trinity ID card. If you need help with your e-mail account, password or did not get assigned one, bring your Trinity ID card and come by the Helpdesk (located on the main floor of the Library), during normal business hours, Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 7:00pm.

For incoming employees, e-mail accounts are created after a Trinity ID number has been assigned by Human Resources. New accounts get generated by ITS within 24 hours of the request from Human Resources. To check on the status of a new account, call the Helpdesk at 999-7409. When your account information is ready, bring your Trinity ID card and come by the Helpdesk (Located on the main floor of the Library), during normal business hours, Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 7:00pm to obtain your username, e-mail and initial password.

Your username is assigned by Information Technology Services. Even though there is a pattern to usernames do not make any assumptions. The pattern may be altered to avoid duplication. The node name for all standard Trinity e-mail accounts is Trinity.edu.

Example: Say each of the U.S. presidents were given Trinity e-mail accounts. John Adams would be issued the username jadams. John Quincy Adams would get the username jadams1 since jadams is already in use.

Some departments such as Computer Science and Engineering Science have their own e-mail systems for their own employees and majors. Contact the appropriate department for more information.
