Trinity University Announces Promotion of Faculty

Faculty members received the good news on Valentine’s Day and plan different ways to celebrate milestone including a trip to Alaska

SAN ANTONIO - It was a Valentine's Day like no other for nine faculty members at Trinity University. On Thursday, Feb. 14, Dennis A. Ahlburg, president of Trinity, notified the professors they have been awarded promotions at the University.

Several of the professors said they marked this career milestone by celebrating with family and colleagues.  Jie Zhang, promoted to associate professor of Chinese, said a party was held in her honor at a ranch in the Texas Hill Country.

Edward Schumacher, promoted to full professor in health care administration, said he would take his wife to a unique restaurant on the San Antonio Riverwalk that specializes in preparing meals with recipes and methods from 1850 and earlier.

And Kim Phillips, promoted to full professor in psychology, said she will celebrate with a trip to Alaska. "It is a place I've wanted to travel to for a while now, so the promotion is a good excuse to fulfill that dream," said Phillips.
