FTP Instructions
The following provides instructions of remotely publishing web pages and images to the www.trinity.edu server using FTP or the File Transfer Protocol
Useful Information
Server Name for Trinity Faculty and Staff: www.trinity.eduServer Name for Trinity Students: www.resnet.trinity.edu
Server Name for Trinity Student Organizations: www.trinity.edu
Usernames must be entered in the TRINITY\username format.
FTP Instructions
(specific to WS-FTP available on the Internet at http://www.tucows.com/preview/195136.html)
- Launch WS-FTP. A window with a generic profile will appear.
- Click New to begin setting up a profile for www.trinity.edu.
- Type in Trinity as the profile name.
- The Host Name/Address should be www.trinity.edu.
- Set the Host Type to Automatic detect.
- Enter the User ID in the form TRINITY\username.
- Leave the password field blank.
- Click OK to connect to the web server.
- Enter your TRINITY domain password when prompted for your password to www.trinity.edu.
- When connected, a window will appear with two halves. The section on the left is the local computer, the section on the right is the network folder.
- Browse to the directory on the local computer your web files are located in.
- Then browse to the desired location on the network server. Department web pages are located under /Trinity/Departments. Faculty and staff personal web pages are located under /Users/username. Student Organization Pages are located in the /Trinity/Student_org directory. Student personal web space is located on the server http://iraa.trinity.edu/iraa/x303.xml in the users directory.
- Finally select the files you wish to transfer and then hit the corresponding arrow to move the files to or from the web server.
- Upon completion of the file transfer, simply click close to exit WS-FTP.
