Trinity University Delegation Visits Latin America
Goal was to build relationships, demonstrate commitment to the region
SAN ANTONIO - In support of the internationalization component of Trinity University's Strategic Plan, Trinity President Dennis A. Ahlburg traveled to Latin America in late May. It was the first time a Trinity president has visited the region in an official capacity.
The Trinity delegation included Eric Maloof, director of international admissions; Juan Perez, admissions counselor; and Aaron Navarro, history professor whose expertise is in Latin America. Strategically chosen destinations included Ecuador, Colombia, and Honduras, all of which boast a number of current students and alumni.
The trip included visits to five high schools, meetings with high school counselors, and receptions for alumni, parents, and current and prospective students. The Trinity delegation was warmly received in each country, where turnouts were very large - often as many as 60 to 70 people.
While demonstrating Trinity's firm commitment to the internationalization of the student body, the trip also helped establish or cement relationships with counselors, parents, alumni, and students that will prove beneficial to the University for years to come in terms of international awareness and prestige, student recruitment, and alumni support.
