Pat Cunningham

 

Head Coach

 

Pat Cunningham has been the head coach of the Trinity University Tigers since 1999, and he is the winningest men's basketball coach in Trinity history.

 

He has led the Tigers to four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships, and six NCAA Division III postseason appearances, including 2009.

 

Trinity advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2005.  The Tigers completed that season with a school-record 25 victories.  Coach Cunningham's teams have produced six 20-win seasons. 

 

Respected by his peers, coach Cunningham was elected the SCAC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year on four occasions, in 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2009.

 

He has served as a member of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Committee since 2007.  Coach Cunningham was also instrumental in helping to start the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III All-Star Game which was held in the spring of 2010.  The game will continue to be a part of the DIII Basketball Championship weekend.

 

Coach Cunningham was the head coach at the University of Chicago from 1991, until he joined the Trinity staff in 1999.  His Chicago Maroons advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Championships twice in a three-year period.  He was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Coach of the Year three of his last four seasons at Chicago.  During that time period, coach Cunningham's teams compiled a remarkable 82-23 record, including two UAA championships and two runner-up finishes.

 

He was the head coach at Manchester College (Ind.) from 1987  to 1991 and was an assistant at Illinois State University from 1981 to 1987.

 

 

 

 

Cameron Hill

 

Head Women's Basketball Coach

 

Former Tiger men's basketball player Cameron Hill has been hired as Trinity's head women's basketball coach, starting with the 2012-13 season.

 

Hill is a 1999 Trinity graduate and will join the staff after coaching most recently at Ursuline Academy of Dallas, which is an independent Catholic college preparatory school for young women.  In his first season with Ursuline, Hill led the team to the Texas Association of Private and Parochials Schools (TAPPS) SA State Championship.  He was in charge of the Varsity,  Junior Varsity, and Freshman teams at Ursuline.

 

While at Trinity, Hill played witht he Tiger men's program from 1996-99, earning All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors in two of his three seasons with the team.  Hill also led the Tigers to the SCAC Championship in 1997-98, earning the team's first appearance in the NCAA Division III Playoffs.  Trinity went 1-1 in the postseason, falling in the second round against Hampden-Sydney.

 

Following his career at Trinity, Hill played professionally for two years in Italy and Germany, before moving on to the coaching ranks.  Hill was an assistant coach with Fordham University for three seasons, then served as the Director of Player Development at the University of Kentucky for three more seasons.  In addition to his college coaching experience, Hill has also served as an assistant coach for the Seattle Supersonics Summer League team and the head coach for the United State Basketball Academy.
