Trinity University to Hold 2011 Winter Commencement

SAN ANTONIO - Trinity University will hold its winter commencement for 98 graduates and undergraduates at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in Laurie Auditorium. Thirty-one graduate students will earn a Master of Science in Health Care Administration, and 67 undergraduates are expected to receive bachelor's degrees.

Don Van Eynde, professor of business administration at Trinity, will deliver the commencement address. Eynde received the Dr. and Mrs. Z.T. Scott Faculty Fellowship Award during the Spring 2011 commencement. The award is given annually for excellence in teaching, advising, and service to students.

Graduating senior Gabriela Lopez will present remarks on behalf of her fellow graduates. The daughter of Omar and Marta Lopez of Austin, she will receive a degree in communication with minors in sociology and entrepreneurship. At Trinity, Lopez has been a Trinity University Ambassador and previously was lead anchor for the Tiger TV's "Not So Late Show." As a first-year student, she set a goal to try out as the commencement speaker, taking a public speaking class to hone her skills and saying that being chosen to speak is a dream that has come to fruition. After graduating, she hopes to launch a business developing custom undergarments for women recovering from breast cancer.
