College guide recognizes University as a "Best Buy” institution

2012 Fiske Guide to Colleges Best Buy School logoSAN ANTONIO - Trinity University has been recognized in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2012 as a "Best Buy" institution. Chosen for their low-to-moderate prices, high academic rating, and quality of on-campus student life, only 49 universities received this designation.

In its profile of Trinity, the college guide described the University as having "a small community feel with quality professors," and "a student body comprised of smart, ambitions men and women."

Students quoted in the article remarked on the "friendly, warm, personal, engaged, and academically stimulating" atmosphere of the university, and the "challenging but not impossible classes."

The profile noted "students report that the academics are rigorous, but the climate is not competitive." Professors were described as "available, brilliant, and helpful," according to one student quoted in the guide. "The students are infused with a sense of global welfare," said another.

Other notable aspects recognized by the Fiske Guide include:

  • A "highly praised education department with a five-year M.A.T program and a good premed program," as well as strong departments of economics, business, engineering, and chemistry.
  • Quality residential life, with large dorms providing internet service, as well as "delicious campus dining."
  • Great location, in a city "with something for everyone to do," and "home to several colleges" and "many cultural and musical attractions."

One of the top rated college guides available for college-bound students, The Fiske Guide is revised annually and updated to include the latest reviews on more than 310 colleges. The Fiske Guide is written by Edward B. Fiske, a former education editor for The New York Times, and the 2012 version is the 28th edition of the venerable college guide.

Trinity University, founded in 1869, is one of the nation's top private undergraduate institutions. Noted for its superior academic quality, outstanding faculty, and exceptional academic and residential resources, Trinity is committed to the intellectual, civic, and professional preparation of its students.
