Swimming & Hiking at Hamilton Pool
Sat 9/8: $15 tigerbucks
Set in the scenic Austin Hill Country, Hamilton pool Preserve is a timeless natural water hole. Hamilton Pool was formed from the natural collapse of a limestone cave, making it home to a unique and diverse ecosystem. Bordered on most sides by limestone cliffs, the pool is a secluded oasis fed by a natural waterfall. There are also numerous hiking trails surrounding the Pool that cut through the beautiful Texas Hill country. Hamilton Pool is situated just 45 minutes out of beautiful Austin Texas and is a summer favorite of many Austinites.
Camping and Canoeing in the Colorado River (TX)

The Colorado River flows through the Heart of Austin Texas and continues out South towards the Gulf flowing through Bastrop and Columbus Texas. O-REC wants to take you on an exciting river expedition through this bustling riparian ecosystem. The Colorado is a gentler flow, lacking rapids or any major hazards; instead there is an abundance of wildlife and native plants that stretch along its banks. Camping along the sandbars in the river and ending at Lost Pines State Park should make for an unforgettable river trip!
Surfing in Port Aransas
Fri 9/21 - Sun 9/23: $130 tigerbucks
Surf's Up!!!! Come along on O-REC's annual Surfing trip down in the Gulf. Spend a long weekend camping on the beach, learning how to shred. Seasoned Surf guide and former Olympian Bill Minor makes sure everyone is using proper surfing technique. By the end of this trip you'll have all the surfing know how to quit your day job and become a beach bum, what could be better than that??!
Daypaddling at Town Lake in Austin

Fortunately for us Texas fall feels a lot like Texas Summer! So come cool down on Lake Austin on O-REC's daypaddling trip. This beautiful lake is within view of the gorgeous downtown Austin. Paddling around Lake Austin is a standby for beating the heat and relaxing. We might even sample some Austin cuisine at any of the delicious restaurants nearby: world famous snow beach sno-cones and P. Terry's burgers are some of our favorites!
Fall Break Canoeing at the Neches River

Want a little excitement for fall break?? Can't make it into Austin for ACL? Then O-REC has the perfect trip for you! The Neches River is an exciting paddle that cuts through the center of the Big Thicket Nature Preserve. While the Neches doesn't have any major rapids, the strong current, abundant strainers, and the occasional swamp house all make for a thrilling paddle. The thick pine and cypress forest on either side make create a peaceful atmosphere, and the starry nights make the campsite seem downright serene.
Stargazing, Foliage-looking, and Backpacking at Lost Maples

What could be better than enjoying a starry night under the Texas sky after a day of backpacking through the hill country? Doing so during the fall at Lost Maples State Natural Area, that's what! Lost Maples has Texas' largest stand of Bigtooth Maples east of the Guadalupe Mountains and they all turn brilliant red, orange, or yellow with the coming of winter. To quote Calvin and Hobbes, it is "nature's own fireworks display"! Most Texas trees don't change color so its a real treat to be able to see this happen close to home. Plus, Lost Maples has sheer limestone cliffs, deep canyons, beautiful woodlands, and clear streams to add to your enjoyment!
Bouldering at Enchanted Rock

Feel like climbing some rocks to let off some steam? Channel your inner mountain goat and join us for a day of bouldering at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, a park featuring a huge pink granite dome and countless more stones to scurry up and over, as well as plenty of hiking for those of you who are less brave! If you're not covered in chalk and scratches by the time you leave, you haven't put in your time. YES THAT"S RIGHT WE'RE BOULDERING TWICE THIS SEMESTER YEAHH BOI.
Thanksgiving Trip: Backpacking in the Guadalupe Mountains
Wed 11/21 - Sun 11/25: $110 tigerbucks
Want to avoid thanksgiving travel chaos and expensive flights home. Well just pack up your bag and spend Turkey Day with your O-REC family. We will be having a gobbling good time in Guadalupe Mountains National Park in West Texas. Enjoy some of the finest scenery this state has to offer and the tallest mountains too. There'll be wildflowers, javelinas, elk, and jackalopes too. Plus if you play your cards right, New England Puritan trip leaders Mitch Hagney and Larsen Andrews will tell you the story of the first thanksgiving. So sign up, smile, and have some fun, because this thanksgiving is gonna be wicked fun!!!
Caving at Robber Baron Cave in San Antonio
Sat 12/1: $25 tigerbucks
An O-REC Classic!! Come along while O-REC gets down and dirty in Robber Baron cave. Located right next to campus this honeycomb maze of limestone passages is usually closed to the public. This caving trip is truly an exhilarating experience, traversing narrow passages and sheer faces all while decked out in helmets and headlamps.
